It is proposed to leave Dundeesailing club at 12.00 pm on Saturday 26th of July. Low water is at 14.35pm. so this allows for over 2 hours sailing at slack water before the tide turns to assist us. The journey should take 4-5 hours depending on the wind and we should arrive in Pertharound 5 pm. We will stay overnight or go home and return to Perth, leaving around 10.00am.on Sunday 20th. High water in Perthis at 10.00am and we should be back in Dundeeabout 15.00 pm. Some people may wish only to sail one way or to only attend the social event in the evening. Volunteers will be required to drive the rescue boat, but this can be split into shorter stages, with the rescue crews swapping with sailors to reduce the burden.
Clothing and equipment
It is recommended that the normal warm and waterproof clothing should be carried or worn, and a change of clothing carried for wearing when we reach Perth. You may also wish to take suitable overnight clothing, towel and toiletries, a sleeping bag and ? tent if you propose to stay overnight. It is the responsibility of the boat owners / helms that the boat is suitably equipped for the journey. Ropes will be needed to tie the boats to mooring rings. Club boats are available to competent helms on a first come, first served basis, and cannot be pre-booked. Heavier equipment (food, drink, tents etc) can be taken up by road by arrangement.
Food and drink
Any food or drink should be taken by individual members since none is available in PerthS.C.It is planned to have a barbeque on Saturday evening and you may wish to have Sunday breakfast before leaving the next day. You may also wish to have snacks and soft drinks for the journey up and down. Beer, wine etc. can be cooled in the fridge. Once the cooled drinks have been consumed, there may be room in the fridge to store food!
Facilities at Perthsailing club
PerthS.C.is situated about 200 metres east of the FriartonBridgeand about 4 miles from the centre of Perth. There is a fairly large lounge with settees and lounge chairs with cushions, which can be used to sleep on overnight. There is a large, level, sheltered piece of adjacent grass, which is ideal for camping. There are male and female toilets and showers and a kitchen with fridge, microwave, oven, grill and hob. Cutlery, crockery, cooking utensils, glasses etc. are available. Outside the clubhouse is a covered patio, which is suitable for lighting the barbeque if it should rain. There are mooring points for tying up the boats next to the clubhouse and ample car parking space. The cost of this weekend will be £5 (kids free) and this will cover Rescue Boat fuel, barbecue fuel and a donation to Perth SC.
